No Bounds - Caity Gyorgy

No Bounds is Canadian jazz vocalist Caity Gyorgy's debut full-length album, independently released on her own label in January 2021. The seven-track set balances four standards from the Great American Songbook with three Gyorgy originals, accompanied by a small group featuring guitarist Jocelyn Gould, bassist Thomas Hainbuch, and drummer Jacob Wutzke. Gyorgy's vocal style blends bebop precision with swing-era warmth, and her original compositions — "Postage Due," "A Certain Someone," and "Undefined" — sit comfortably alongside well-worn standards like "Bye Bye Blackbird" and "I Can't Get Started." The album established Gyorgy's voice as a recording artist before a rapid succession of releases that followed, including the big band EP Now Pronouncing later that same year, which won a 2022 JUNO Award for Vocal Jazz Album of the Year. Where that record leaned on larger arrangements, No Bounds keeps things intimate, letting the interplay between voice and guitar carry much of the harmonic weight. The album introduced a songwriter and improviser whose later work would expand in scale and ambition, but whose core identity — rooted in bebop vocabulary and a direct, unaffected delivery — was already fully present here.
