Now Pronouncing: Caity Gyorgy is a five-song EP of all-original material, recorded as Caity Gyorgy's capstone project for her Bachelor of Music degree at Humber College in Toronto. Released on La Reserve Records in July 2021, it marks her first large-ensemble recording, featuring arrangements for a horn section including baritone saxophonist Kyle Tarder-Stoll and alto saxophonist Daniel Barta alongside a rhythm section of pianist Felix Fox-Pappas, bassist Thomas Hainbuch, and drummer Jacob Wutzke. The EP showcases Gyorgy's bebop-rooted vocal style, with scat singing and improvised exchanges between voice and horns throughout, particularly on "Secret Safe." All five tracks are Gyorgy originals, establishing her as a composer as well as a singer. CBC Music selected it as one of the Top 15 Canadian Jazz Albums of 2021, and it won the 2022 JUNO Award for Vocal Jazz Album of the Year, launching Gyorgy into a run of back-to-back JUNO wins alongside Diana Krall as the only artists to achieve that distinction in the vocal jazz category. The EP introduced the big band format that Gyorgy would continue to develop on subsequent releases while expanding her audience through international touring and a growing social media presence.
