Tenor saxophonist Michael Brecker, fusion guitarist Mike Stern, and pianist-composer Don Grolnick co-wrote "Original Rays" for Brecker's acclaimed 1987 debut album as a leader. This energetic, gospel-tinged composition was named after a New York pizza chain and became a modern jazz standard. The tune features Brecker's distinctive EWI introduction and showcases the tight musical rapport between these three bandmates.
