Jimmy Davis, Roger "Ram" Ramirez, and James Sherman wrote the jazz standard "Lover Man" in 1941, originally intended for Billie Holiday. Holiday's 1944 recording became definitive and was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame. The song has become one of the most recorded jazz standards with covers by Ella Fitzgerald, Charlie Parker, Sarah Vaughan, and Dexter Gordon among many others.
