Axl Rose, born William Bruce Bailey in Lafayette, Indiana, is an American songwriter and the lead vocalist of Guns N' Roses. As the band's principal lyricist and a central compositional voice, Rose shaped the sound of one of rock's most successful acts across four decades. He co-wrote the material on Appetite for Destruction (1987), which became the best-selling debut album in American history, and served as the dominant creative force behind the Use Your Illusion albums (1991) and the long-gestating Chinese Democracy (2008). His writing spans aggressive hard rock anthems, sprawling ballads, and extended compositions that draw on classical and orchestral elements. On AllSolos, Rose's credited compositions include November Rain, an epic power ballad that became one of the band's defining statements, along with Estranged, Dead Horse, Shotgun Blues, and Breakdown. His frequent collaborators included Izzy Stradlin, Slash, and Duff McKagan in the classic lineup, and later musicians such as Buckethead, Dizzy Reed, and Robin Finck.
