Duff McKagan, born Michael Andrew McKagan on February 5, 1964, is an American musician and songwriter best known as the bassist and co-writer in Guns N' Roses. McKagan contributed to the band's songwriting from their formation, sharing credits on landmark tracks including Paradise City, Welcome to the Jungle, and Civil War. His compositional work extends to side projects including Velvet Revolver, the band Loaded, and solo albums that draw on punk and Americana influences. On AllSolos, McKagan is credited as the sole writer of So Fine, a track from Use Your Illusion II that he also sang. His collaborators have included Slash, Matt Sorum, Ozzy Osbourne, and Iggy Pop.
