Lee Alexander is an American bassist, songwriter, and producer from Ayer, Massachusetts. A graduate of Berklee College of Music's Professional Music program in 1993, Alexander built his compositional reputation through a prolific songwriting partnership with Norah Jones across her first three studio albums. Between Come Away with Me, Feels Like Home, and Not Too Late, he wrote or co-wrote seventeen songs, establishing himself as a key creative voice in Jones's sound. His best-known composition, "Sunrise," co-written with Jones, won the 2004 Grammy Award for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance. On AllSolos, Alexander is represented by "Seven Years" and "Lonestar," both reflecting his gift for melodic simplicity and emotional directness. Other notable compositions include "Feelin' the Same Way," "Those Sweet Words," and "Sinkin' Soon." Alexander also served as co-producer on Not Too Late and produced recordings for singer-songwriter Amos Lee. His work as a bassist, particularly on Jesse Harris's "Don't Know Why," has been cited for its elegant restraint, a quality that carries over into his songwriting, where economy of expression and unhurried phrasing define his compositional voice.
