Lee Alexander and J.C. Hopkins co-wrote "Painter Song," which appears on Norah Jones's blockbuster 2002 debut album Come Away with Me. Alexander, a bassist and songwriter, played on nearly all tracks of the album and received songwriting credits on four songs. Hopkins, a composer and bandleader, collaborated with Alexander on this track that showcased the album's intimate jazz-folk aesthetic.
