Harry Owens and Vincent Rose wrote "Linger Awhile," copyrighted in 1923. Rose composed the music while Owens provided the words for this popular song first recorded by Bailey's Lucky Seven in 1924. Rose, who also composed "Avalon" and "Whispering," was an established Tin Pan Alley composer, while Owens later gained fame for composing "Sweet Leilani," which won the Academy Award for Best Song in 1937.
