George Forrest and Robert Wright composed "Baubles, Bangles, and Beads" for the 1953 Broadway musical Kismet, adapting melodies from Russian composer Alexander Borodin's classical works. Forrest and Wright specialized in creating popular musicals from classical compositions, and "Baubles, Bangles, and Beads" became one of their most successful songs from Kismet, alongside "Stranger in Paradise." The composition has since become a jazz standard.
