Dizzy Gillespie and Gil Fuller collaborated on "I Waited for You," a jazz ballad first recorded by Gillespie and His Orchestra in the mid-1940s. Fuller, one of bebop's most important arrangers, worked extensively with Gillespie's big band, contributing arrangements for "Manteca" and other key works. "I Waited for You" became a jazz standard covered by Chet Baker, Jimmy Heath, and numerous others.
