Julian Robledo composed dance music in the early twentieth century, primarily waltzes and tangos. Born in Spain in 1887, he moved to Buenos Aires where he established himself as a composer. His most significant work, "Three O'Clock in the Morning," was composed as a piano solo in 1919 and published in New Orleans. Dorothy Terriss added lyrics in 1921, transforming it into an international sensation published in England, Germany, and Argentina, where it was reinterpreted as a tango vals. The composition generated at least 41 recorded versions between 1921 and 1947.
