Chad Lefkowitz-Brown follows Randy Brecker with eight choruses of tenor saxophone on "Cantaloupe Island" at approximately 130 BPM, building an extended improvisation over Hancock's 16-bar funk form in F. His post-bop approach brings a different flavor to the groove-based setting, his lines maintaining jazz harmonic sophistication while locking into the funk rhythm section.
