About
Julieta Eugenio's tenor saxophone solo is the first of two solos on this 2018 trio performance of Kay Swift's "Fine and Dandy." She takes four choruses of the 32-bar ABAC form at a blazing 295 BPM in F, one of the fastest tempos in her recorded output. The extreme speed demands exceptional technical facility and the ability to think melodically at tempo, and Eugenio's four-chorus statement demonstrates both, building intensity across the extended solo. She is followed by Matt Dwonszyk on acoustic bass.
Julieta Eugenio was 27 to 28 years old at the time.
