Danny Janklow's alto saxophone solo is the first of two solos on this 2021 LA Jazz Connection performance of Burton Lane's "On a Clear Day." He takes one chorus of the 36-bar ABCA' form at 173 BPM with a swing feel in D, navigating the slightly extended form with melodic fluency. The 36-bar structure provides a bit more harmonic territory than a standard 32-bar tune, and Janklow's single-chorus statement makes effective use of the space. He is followed by Josh Mellicker on electric guitar.
