This is the first of four electric guitar solos by Slash on this ambitious eight-and-a-half-minute epic from Use Your Illusion II. At just ten seconds, it is a brief, punctuating statement that arrives early in the song's sprawling structure at approximately 120 BPM in A-flat. The solo functions as a short melodic interjection amid the song's complex arrangement, offering a taste of the more developed guitar work that follows in the subsequent three solos. Co-written by Axl Rose and Slash, the track's extended form allows each solo to serve a distinct narrative purpose within the composition.
