Alex Flavell's piano solo is the first of two solos on this uptempo swing rendition of George Gershwin's "Love Is Here to Stay" from Alexis Cole's 2021 album Sky Blossom. The solo starts at the second half of a chorus and continues for a total of one and a half choruses over the 32-bar ABAC form in B-flat at 156 BPM. The unconventional entry point mid-chorus adds variety to the arrangement, and the extended length allows Flavell to develop ideas across the form's harmonic terrain. Gershwin's composition holds a singular place in the catalog as the last song George completed before his death in 1937. Alto saxophonist Nathan King follows with a solo of his own.
