About
Robby Krieger's electric guitar solo is the second of two solos on "Light My Fire" from The Doors' 1967 self-titled debut album. Following Manzarek's organ feature, Krieger takes his turn at approximately 125 BPM in A-flat with a rock feel, contributing the other half of the song's legendary dual-solo section. The interplay and contrast between Manzarek's classically informed organ and Krieger's jazz- and flamenco-influenced guitar defined The Doors' instrumental identity. Written primarily by Krieger, the song became the band's biggest hit, and his guitar solo on the full-length album version stands as one of the most celebrated performances of the 1960s.
Robby Krieger was 19 to 20 years old at the time.
