About
Ray Manzarek's organ solo is the first of two solos on "Love Her Madly" from The Doors' 1971 album L.A. Woman. Manzarek solos at an uptempo 147 BPM in A with a rock feel, taking the opening instrumental feature on the track that became the album's most commercially successful single, reaching number eleven on the Billboard Hot 100. Written primarily by Robby Krieger, who discovered the song's shuffle chord pattern while strumming a newly acquired twelve-string guitar, the track pairs organ and guitar solos in a classic Doors dual-solo arrangement. Krieger follows with his own guitar feature.
Ray Manzarek was 31 to 32 years old at the time.
