Taking one chorus of the 32-bar ABAC form in A-flat at 58 BPM, Drew continues the intimate mood established by Gordon with his own lyrical exploration of the standard's harmonies. His touch and dynamic control are well suited to the ballad context, and his solo maintains the emotional depth while bringing the pianist's own harmonic perspective to the familiar chord changes.
