About
Miles Davis's trumpet solo is the second of four improvisations on this recording. Miles plays the second half of a chorus following Bird, taking a half chorus of the 32-bar AABA form in D at 178 BPM. Picking up where Parker leaves off, Davis navigates Gillespie's composition with the developing confidence of a young musician rising to the occasion alongside the most important figures in modern jazz.
Miles Davis was 19 to 20 years old at the time.
