About
Jack Sheldon's three-chorus trumpet solo is the second of five solos on this relaxed blues. Following Morgan's alto opening, Sheldon takes the 12-bar form at 120 BPM in B-flat, his lyrical and slightly irreverent style bringing a different personality to the blues. The composer of the tune, Sheldon named it after Gene Norman's Crescendo Club on the Sunset Strip, and his three choruses carry the easygoing spirit of the Los Angeles club scene where this music was at home.
Jack Sheldon was 23 to 24 years old at the time.
