Piccadilly Stomp is a jazz composition attributed to Stephane Grappelli, the legendary French jazz violinist best known for his pioneering work with Django Reinhardt in the Quintette du Hot Club de France. The tune remains relatively obscure within Grappelli's extensive catalog, which is dominated by gypsy jazz standards and better-known originals. Its title follows the early jazz convention of "stomp" pieces, suggesting a lively, rhythmically driven character rooted in the swing tradition. While primary sources such as liner notes or sheet music confirming Grappelli's authorship have not surfaced, the composition appears in the repertoire of violinists working in the Grappelli-inspired tradition. British jazz violinist Chris Garrick included it in his group's setlists during the early 1990s alongside other Grappelli-associated material, and it appeared in sessions from 1990 and recordings from 1994-95. Violinist Nora Germain recorded the tune for her 2020 album Go for It, bringing a modern interpretation to the piece. More recently, Germain revisited the composition on her 2024 album Postcards from Violin Mountain, featuring solos by Germain on violin and Miles Jensen on electric guitar. Though Piccadilly Stomp has not entered the mainstream jazz repertoire, it endures as a niche offering within the gypsy jazz and jazz violin community, carried forward by musicians who draw on Grappelli's legacy.
