Come Away with Me is pianist and vocalist Norah Jones's debut album, released on February 26, 2002 on Blue Note Records. Produced by Arif Mardin, the album blends jazz, country, folk, and pop into a warm, intimate sound anchored by Jones's smoky alto voice and understated piano playing. The album's spare arrangements feature contributions from guitarists Adam Levy, Kevin Breit, and Bill Frisell, violinist Jenny Scheinman, and accordionist Rob Burger, among others. "Don't Know Why," written by Jesse Harris, became the album's breakout single and won the Grammy Award for Record of the Year. The album won eight Grammy Awards in total, including Album of the Year, and has sold over 27 million copies worldwide, making it one of the best-selling jazz-adjacent albums in history. Jones, the daughter of Indian sitarist Ravi Shankar, had studied jazz piano at the University of North Texas before moving to New York. The album's success was unexpected for Blue Note, traditionally a jazz label — its crossover appeal brought a new audience to the label while sparking debate about genre boundaries. The piano solos and guitar work throughout maintain a jazz sensibility even as the songwriting draws from folk and country traditions.
