Caity Gyorgy Quartet is the self-titled debut EP from Canadian jazz vocalist Caity Gyorgy, independently released in 2019 on her own Caity Gyorgy Records imprint. The four-track set features Gyorgy with a small group including tenor saxophonist Kyle Tarder-Stoll, pianist Jeremy Hucal, and bassist Ben Duff, mixing originals with standards in an intimate quartet setting. Her original "Two Left Feet" and a reading of Frank Loesser's "I've Never Been in Love Before" showcase the bebop-rooted vocal style and confident improvisation that would define her later work. Recorded while Gyorgy was still building her career between studies at Humber College and McGill University, the EP serves as an early snapshot of a singer whose profile would rise sharply in the years that followed. Her subsequent releases — the full-length No Bounds in 2021, the big band EP Now Pronouncing later that year, and the guest-heavy Featuring in 2022 — expanded in ambition and scale, with Now Pronouncing earning a 2022 JUNO Award for Vocal Jazz Album of the Year. This debut, by contrast, keeps things small and focused, capturing the core of Gyorgy's artistry before the accolades arrived.
