Dave Brubeck composed extensively across six decades, creating a catalog that ranges from jazz standards to orchestral works and musical theater. His most celebrated compositions include "In Your Own Sweet Way," "Blue Rondo a la Turk," and "The Duke," all widely performed jazz standards. Other significant works include "Three to Get Ready," "Kathy's Waltz," "Strange Meadow Lark," and "Pick Up Sticks." Beyond small group compositions, Brubeck wrote larger-scale works such as "Elementals" for jazz combo and symphony orchestra, the musical The Real Ambassadors with Louis Armstrong, and several sacred choral pieces. His compositional style was characterized by experimentation with unusual time signatures, polytonality, and the fusion of jazz harmony with classical structures. He died in 2012.
