Henry Mancini composed scores for over 100 films and numerous television series during a career spanning four decades. His groundbreaking score for the television series Peter Gunn in 1958 launched a 35-year collaboration with writer-producer Blake Edwards that produced 30 films together. Mancini's most celebrated compositions include "Moon River" and "Days of Wine and Roses," both written with lyricist Johnny Mercer, along with "Moment to Moment." These pieces became jazz standards widely performed beyond their original film contexts. Mancini blended sophisticated jazz harmonies with accessible melodic writing, creating a distinctive sound that bridged popular and jazz idioms. He also produced around 90 albums reworking his film scores for concert performance.
