Opening the solo section, this acoustic bass improvisation spans one chorus of the 32-bar form at a brisk latin feel at 156 BPM. The Latin feel provides a rhythmic foundation that differs from the swing-based performances elsewhere on the album, and each soloist brings a distinctive perspective to Santoro's composition. This is the most concise solo on the recording, making every phrase count within a compact space. The 32-bar form provides a defined harmonic landscape for the improvisation.
