Opening the solo section, this soprano sax improvisation spans one chorus of the 64-bar ABAB' form at a medium swing tempo of 146 BPM. The 3/4 meter adds an additional layer of rhythmic complexity. Composed by Fats Waller, the tune is one of the most distinctive pieces in the jazz waltz repertoire, combining Waller's characteristic melodic charm with the rhythmic elegance of three-quarter time.
