Horace Silver
Piano Solo on
Me And My Baby

About

Horace Silver contributes two choruses on piano, the third of 4 solos on the recording. Taken at a medium-up swing tempo of 167 BPM over the 12-bar Blues in A♭, the improvisation flows with assured, relaxed momentum. Silver's two piano choruses are models of blues economy, his funky left-hand comping and bluesy right-hand lines creating the signature sound that influenced generations of jazz pianists. Recorded for the album Horace-Scope in 1960, the performance captures Horace Silver at 31 to 32 years old. "Me and My Baby" is a swinging blues from Horace Silver's 1960 Blue Note album Horace-Scope, featuring solos from all four melodic voices in the quintet over a 12-bar blues in A-flat.

Horace Silver was 31 to 32 years old at the time.
