About
Charles Lloyd's flute solo is the second of two improvisations on this recording, following Manzarek's electric piano solo. Entering at approximately 4:42, Lloyd delivers an extended 64-second statement over the A-minor tonality at 168 BPM, his flute bringing an entirely different textural quality to the track. Lloyd's improvisational approach combines the exploratory spirit of his jazz background with an airiness and lyricism that complements the composition's Latin fusion character, making this one of the most distinctive guest contributions to the Full Circle album.
Charles Lloyd was 33 to 34 years old at the time.
