Elvin Jones's drum solo is the third and final improvisation on this alternate take, following solos by Tyner and Shorter. Taking two choruses of the 24-bar form in B at 182 BPM in 3/4 time, Jones delivers a polyrhythmic statement within the waltz framework that, like the solos before him, takes a different path than on the master take. His two-chorus drum solo provides a dynamic conclusion to this alternate version of the title track.
