Dodo Marmarosa's piano solo is the fourth and final improvisation on this recording. Following a Lucky Thompson solo, the band repeats the second half of a chorus for Dodo, who takes a half chorus of the 32-bar AABA form in B-flat at 213 BPM. Marmarosa's bebop-influenced piano work closes the solo section with harmonic sophistication and rhythmic drive, his playing reflecting the remarkable facility that made him one of the most admired pianists of the bebop era.
