About
Arv Garrison's electric guitar solo is the fourth and final improvisation on this recording. Arv picks it up from Lucky Thompson, playing over just the bridge before the band comes in to take the head out. Taking a quarter chorus of the 32-bar AABA form in D at 178 BPM, Garrison delivers a brief electric guitar statement on Gillespie's iconic composition. His compact solo brings the improvisatory section to a close before the ensemble returns for the final statement of the theme.
Arv Garrison was 23 to 24 years old at the time.
