Mike Rocha's trumpet solo is the third and final solo on this live ballad, and the longest statement of the three. Following solos by Chart and Saul, Rocha takes the open form at 65 BPM in B minor, building gradually from whispered phrases to more impassioned lines. His extended closing statement brings the performance to an emotionally resonant conclusion, the patient development of his ideas demonstrating the considerable melodic imagination he brings to the ballad context.
