Mike Rocha is a four-time Grammy-nominated trumpeter, composer, arranger, and educator based in Lodi, California. He holds the jazz soloist seat in Gordon Goodwin's Big Phat Band and has an extensive career as a Hollywood studio session trumpeter, with credits on films including "The Color Purple," "Ford v Ferrari," "Ralph Breaks the Internet," and "The Secret Life of Pets 2," as well as television shows including "The Simpsons" and "Family Guy." Rocha has performed or recorded with artists ranging from Christina Aguilera and Bob Dylan to the John Daversa Big Band and Postmodern Jukebox. He co-leads the Lappitt-Rocha Septet and is a Yamaha artist endorsee. Rocha teaches trumpet at San Joaquin Delta College and CSU Sacramento and runs The Mike Rocha Music Academy online.

He released the Lappitt-Rocha Septet's debut album "First Take" on his birthday in 2018. In his free time, Rocha aspires to compete in chess tournaments, for which he practices daily on his iPhone.
Mike Rocha grew up in a small town in the Sacramento area of California and first started playing trumpet at age nine. While still in junior high and high school, he performed with both the California All-State Honor Band and All-State Jazz Band, won concerto competitions, and led a Dixieland band called "The Barkin' Dawgs." He toured Brazil with the Sacramento Youth Symphony as principal trumpeter and toured Japan with the Monterey Next-Gen Band as lead trumpeter. Rocha earned a B.M. in Trumpet Performance magna cum laude from Berklee College of Music in 2007 and an M.F.A. in Jazz Studies and Composition from California Institute of the Arts. After Berklee, he toured 48 states, Canada, and Japan as jazz trumpeter with the Glenn Miller Orchestra.
