Closing out the solo section, this drums improvisation spans four choruses of the 16-bar form at a brisk latin feel at 160 BPM. The Latin groove provides a different textural foundation from the swing-based standards that dominate the Standard Sessions project, and the trio responds with performances that honor Henderson's legacy of combining accessible melodies with harmonically adventurous improvisation. This is the most concise solo on the recording, making every phrase count within a compact space. Coming after Joshua Richman's piano solo, this is the final improvisation before the ensemble returns to the head.
