About
Closing out the solo section, this acoustic bass improvisation spans two choruses of the 36-bar ABA form at an uptempo swing feel at 239 BPM. Bassist Yasushi Nakamura contributes two choruses of acoustic bass improvisation at nearly the same breakneck tempo. This is the most concise solo on the recording, making every phrase count within a compact space. The 36-bar form provides a defined harmonic landscape for the improvisation. Coming after Steven Feifke's piano solo, this is the final improvisation before the ensemble returns to the head.
Yasushi Nakamura was 35 to 36 years old at the time.
