About
Bob Cranshaw's acoustic bass solo closes out the improvised statements on this recording, following Barry Harris's piano. Spanning two choruses of the 24-Bar form at a moderate 151 BPM with a funk feel in E♭, the solo runs approximately 1:17. Pianist Barry Harris contributes three hard-swinging choruses, and bassist Bob Cranshaw rounds out the solos with two melodic choruses. "The Sidewinder" is one of the most commercially successful recordings in Blue Note Records history, the title track from Lee Morgan's 1963 album. Bob Cranshaw was 30 to 31 years old at the time of this 1963 recording.
