"HUH!" is a composition credited to Bobby Timmons that first appeared on alto saxophonist Frank Morgan's 1955 album Pet of the Year, recorded on March 31, 1955 in Los Angeles for the GNP Crescendo label. The tune was part of Morgan's early discography as a West Coast jazz musician, recorded with a septet that included Conte Candoli on trumpet, Wardell Gray on tenor saxophone, Howard Roberts on guitar, Carl Perkins on piano, Leroy Vinnegar on bass, and Larance Marable on drums. Timmons, who would later gain wide recognition for composing soul jazz staples such as Moanin', This Here, and Dat Dere during his tenure with Art Blakey's Jazz Messengers, wrote this piece during his formative years as a pianist on the Los Angeles scene. The original recording runs approximately six and a half minutes and features extended solo work from Morgan, whose alto saxophone improvisations span several choruses and include passages of drum exchanges. The composition has not circulated widely beyond these early Frank Morgan sessions and does not appear in the broader jazz standard repertoire. It remains a notable artifact from a period when both Timmons and Morgan were developing the musical identities that would define their later careers.
