Written by Colin Hay for Men at Work's 1981 debut album Business as Usual, "I Can See It in Your Eyes" is a melodic pop-rock composition that draws from Hay's personal experiences of relationships reaching an irreversible end during his twenties. The song captures a reflective, bittersweet tone centered on the realization that too many lines have been crossed and there is no way back. Hay has noted that the song's lyrical approach is more complex than some of the album's other tracks, and it was actually considered as the lead single before the band opted for "Who Can It Be Now?" instead, a decision Hay later viewed as the right call. The original recording features Hay on lead vocals and guitar, Ron Strykert on guitar and background vocals, Greg Ham on keyboards and background vocals, and Jerry Speiser on drums. On AllSolos, Hay's electric guitar solo on this track is featured. While not one of Men at Work's charting singles, the song has endured as a deep cut appreciated by fans of the album. Hay revisited it in acoustic form on his 2003 solo album Man @ Work, with a new recording included on the album's 2013 tenth anniversary vinyl edition, reintroducing it alongside other Men at Work classics in a stripped-down setting.
