"It Slipped My Mind" is a composition by Robby Krieger, the guitarist of The Doors, written for the band's 1972 album Full Circle. The song was recorded during a transitional period for the group, as the three surviving members attempted to carry on following Jim Morrison's death in July 1971. Full Circle was The Doors' second and final studio album without Morrison, and it found the remaining musicians exploring a wider range of styles including Latin fusion, funk, and straightforward rock. Krieger, who had already proven himself one of the band's most prolific songwriters with compositions like "Light My Fire" and "Love Me Two Times," took on vocal duties for this track as the band divided singing responsibilities among its members. The song is a compact piece at just over three minutes, appearing on the album's second side alongside two other Krieger compositions, "4 Billion Souls" and "Hardwood Floor." While Full Circle as a whole demonstrated the band's musical ambition and versatility, it also revealed the creative tensions that would soon lead to their dissolution. "It Slipped My Mind" has remained exclusively associated with its original Doors recording, with no documented cover versions by other artists, and occupies a modest but representative place within Krieger's body of work during this late chapter of the band's history.
