About
Jonathan Kreisberg tears through fourteen choruses of electric guitar on the blistering blues "Five Bucks A Bungalow," the longest and most extroverted solo on his album New For Now. At approximately 256 BPM over the 12-bar form in F, he builds from spare opening phrases through increasingly complex harmonic superimpositions to a climax of ferocious intensity, his command of the blues idiom drawing on elements of bebop, post-bop, and contemporary jazz guitar. As the first of three soloists, his fourteen-chorus marathon establishes this track as the ultimate proving ground on the album, demonstrating that the trio can generate combustible energy and sustained creative invention over the most fundamental jazz form.
Jonathan Kreisberg was 31 to 32 years old at the time.
