About
Sarah Slonim's piano solo is the second of three solos on this 2017 SIJ Trio performance of "You Stepped out of a Dream" at Mezzrow, following Julieta Eugenio's tenor saxophone. She takes half a chorus of the 32-bar ABAC form at 168 BPM in C, a concise statement that maintains the swing momentum while providing a timbral shift from the preceding saxophone. Her playing brings harmonic clarity and rhythmic buoyancy to the Nacio Herb Brown standard before Inbar Paz closes on acoustic bass.
Sarah Slonim was 28 to 29 years old at the time.
