About
Closing out the solo section, this piano improvisation spans two choruses of the 64-bar AABA form at a brisk latin feel at 224 BPM. Pianist Holger Marjamaa follows with two choruses of his own at a slightly relaxed tempo around 224 BPM, bringing a different textural approach to the same harmonic territory. The extended 64-bar AABA form, with its demanding bridge section, tests the soloist's command of harmony and endurance at speed. Coming after Chad Lefkowitz-Brown's tenor sax solo, this is the final improvisation before the ensemble returns to the head.
Holger Marjamaa was 26 to 27 years old at the time.
