More Power! is a tenor saxophonist Dexter Gordon album recorded in 1969 and released on Prestige Records. The session features a two-tenor front line with James Moody joining Gordon, supported by pianist Barry Harris, bassist Buster Williams, and drummer Albert Heath. The five-track program includes Gordon's original "Fried Bananas" alongside Tadd Dameron's "Lady Bird," Bobby Hutcherson's "Meditation," and other selections. The pairing of Gordon and Moody creates an appealing contrast — Gordon's big, behind-the-beat tenor against Moody's more fluid, rhythmically agile approach. Harris's piano comping, deeply rooted in the bebop tradition of Bud Powell and Thelonious Monk, provides a natural harmonic foundation for both saxophonists. "Fried Bananas" became one of Gordon's better-known originals, a medium-tempo piece with a catchy melody. The album was recorded during a period when Gordon was briefly back in the United States before returning to Europe, where he had been living since 1962. The Prestige session represents the kind of informal, swinging blowing date that the label specialized in — minimal rehearsal, maximum improvisation, and strong players given room to stretch out.
